As many of you know, Etsy has been changing a lot over the last year. They have all but completely dropped their seller support and are siding with scammers and refunding orders that are delayed for reasons outside of the sellers’ control (out of the seller’s pocket). They are also allowing their marketplace to be taken over by fakes, mass-produced items, and the handmade community is suffering as a result. During this time, they have also increased our fees while reducing our customer service options as sellers.
As a result of many of these changes, we have made the decision to remove bulk discounts and free shipping from our Etsy shop for the time being. The change will go into effect on Friday, May 19th, 2023. This was a difficult decision for us, but unfortunately, the massive increase in fees we are paying gives us no choice. We want to be able to offer our customers competitive pricing and the best quality, and we do not feel we can do that at the current costs. Like many of you, we are adjusting to increased costs all across our business in both materials and equipment. We cannot sustain quality at the rate we are going on Etsy. We hope that you can understand the situation we are in – I’m sure many of you are dealing with the same issues that we are!
We here at SADDLE HILL are a HANDMADE business, even though we sell a “supply”. Each of our products is custom-made for you right here in our small shop in Arlington, Texas. Each item we offer is carefully designed to show off your products and give them a professional look that increases your sales. We take pride in offering the level of customization we do, and we want to continue that.
All of that said, our website will continue to offer lower pricing than our Etsy shop, AND we will continue to include bulk discounts automatically in all orders placed on our website. We will be experimenting with a free shipping option in the coming months depending on how things go as well. As of right now, the lower pricing and bulk discounts are a larger discount than free shipping would be if ordering from our Etsy shop.
We are also adding a new feature that allows you to select an option to use the information we have on file for you or do an exact reorder of an item. This will make reordering much easier for our regular customers from both of our shops.
We want you to have the best possible packaging for your products so that you can sell more of your products, and we will continue to offer that on Etsy as well as here on our own website! These are simply the updates required in order to avoid raising our pricing again.
